Deep Dives: The Rise and Fall of Adriano
I worked with the team at The Gold Studio creating a multi-episode series which consisted of a long form documentary and 4 Youtube shorts based on the documentary. As I was not allowed to use match footage, this presented a challenge and I was supplied with a script which gave me creative license to find a style to tell this story. I used Chat GPT to establish a style that I could use to create a comic style animation, I did also explore Runway to generate some of the videos. Using the sourced imagery, I artworked several comic panels that could be used in animation.
I used lots of stock 2D stock footage, textures and subtle character animation with Adriano’s memorable goals. I used the comic shapes and page turns as transitions to move the story along. When I was happy with the animation, I exported the video and spent time source audio tracks, sound effects and match commentary to enhance the emotion and the highs and lows of Adriano’s colorful career.

Deep Dives: The Galacticos
Following the success of the first documentary, I had a style and template which I applied to the second long form documentary. I used Chat GPT to create the images using the anime style. Using these images I created comic book pages in Photoshop ready to be animated in After Effects. Using some of these images, I created videos using Pixverse to add motion which was a time saver with so many still images to build this story.
For Zidane’s goal, I used the rotobrush in After Effects, making use of flat colors with the fill effect to create a silhouette of Zidane’s famous Champions League Goal. I used 2D stock electric and fire elements. I used noise and paper overlay textures to create a hand crafted look with this video which was enhanced by the posterize effect in After Effects.
